School Accountability Committee

School Accountability Committee (SAC)

Chair: Eddie "Mac" McManus

The purpose of the committee shall be to work collaboratively with the Principal, school, staff, parents, community, and PTSA to:

- review and make recommendations for the Leawood Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) based on our school data, both celebrations and challenges
- discuss whether the school environment supports the implementation of Leawood’s UIP and Climate and Culture Plan.
- determine priorities for spending school moneys based on the current goals of Leawood’s UIP and Family School Partnership Survey
- identify the schools prioritized needs and advocates to PTSA for appropriate resources (i.e. volunteers, materials, financing)

An Accountability Committee is Not…

…a mini school board
…a group that evaluates district personnel
…a group that makes hiring and firing recommendations
…a policy-making body
…a place to discuss your individual child’s needs

Meetings are 5:00-6:00pm at the school
Upcoming meetings: April 17th and May 15th, 2024

What does Accountability discuss?

- Student Achievement
- School Culture and Climate
- Safety, Health, & Wellness
- Budget (Student Based Budgeting)
- School Mission and Vision Statement
- Survey Results: Family School Partnership Survey

All meetings are open to community members. Open Forum items are allowed the last 5 minutes of each meeting. If there’s not enough time to amply address, when deemed appropriate by the committee, items will be added to our next meeting agenda.
